Sharecrows is a fall food drive that for 11 days turns scarecrows into Sharecrows – to not just feed people, but to feed community, creativity and change. Here’s who does what.
THE CLUB
Coordinates
- Rallies the town and recruits local display hosts
- Decides where the funds go – the food bank, its own causes, or a brand-new initiative
- Promotes the tour and Donation Day across town
- Uses the Sharecrows platform to promote and collect donations
DISPLAY HOSTS
Create and host
- Residents and storefronts register to build a Sharecrow display
- They put it out October 20 and keep it up through October 31
- They set a donation bin beside it and keep an eye on it
- And they bring their collected donations to Donation Day

EVERYONE ELSE
Visitors & families take the tour
No display, no problem. Grab a map, take a tour, go out as often as you like over the 11 days. Feed non-perishable ‘treats’ to your favourite Sharecrows, snap photos, post and tag us on Facebook. Can’t take a tour? Visit us on Donation Day and drop off your donation or make a donation on our website or through our QR code. There are lots of ways to play with us.

Before the event

Register your club and receive your event site, QR code and ready-to-use marketing kit personalized with your town’s details and the evergreen Sharecrows event dates.
Oct 20–31
The tour comes alive
Registered participants put their Sharecrows on display along with a donation bin. Residents follow the Tour Map, discover the displays, and Treat the Sharecrows.
Donation Day
Bring it home
The standalone capstone in early November – with its own poster, its own campaign. Even folks who never built a display or took the tour can show up and give.
THE QR CODE
Fundraising made easy.
Your unique QR code is the perfect solution to the “I don’t carry cash anymore” ask for donations. It’s quick, easy, and safe — giving residents another way to support their local Sharecrows food drive. Together, online giving and food donations add up to an impact the whole community can celebrate.
