OUR STORY

It started when the fundraisers stopped.

In 2020, the traditional fundraisers were cancelled – but the need on the food bank shelves didn’t go anywhere. So a few of us in Saugeen Shores tried something different. We turned our scarecrows into Sharecrows, set donation bins beside them, and invited the whole town to take the tour.

It worked. Then it kept working. The Chantry Island Cham-bettes, a passionate, community-rooted women’s civic group, became our founding host club and proved this could be a tradition, not a one-off.

A NOTE FROM OUR FOUNDER

Six years later, our neighbours have raised tens of thousands of dollars and filled our local food bank shelves, season after season – with creativity, fun, and a whole lot of community pride.

I built Sharecrows so your club can do the same without starting from scratch. We’ve done the heavy lifting – the site, the marketing, the map, the training – so you can do what your club does best: rally your community.

This isn’t a corporate program. It started with neighbours, and it grew from there. I’d love to hop on a call and show you around.

With thanks, Cheryl

SIX YEARS OF PROOF

What our community has done together.

Real numbers from Saugeen Shores, expanding to all four host clubs in 2025.

Sharecrow Stats

Year Food Collected Cash Raised
2020 2 tonnes $3,300
2021 10 tonnes $5,200
2022 5 tonnes $3,400
2023 2 tonnes $6,200
2024 3.7 tonnes $10,000
2025 6.6 tonnes $15,585
Since 2020 ≈ 29 tonnes $43,685+

That’s ≈ 29 tonnes, or roughly 54,000 meals (at the standard 1.2 lbs per meal). And this is just the beginning. Picture these numbers multiplied across every town that joins. Help us grow them – and take a real bite out of food insecurity, community by community.

Every community deserves a tradition worth coming back to.

Maybe yours is next.
